1 Oversee Spiritual Development of the Church. This involves reviewing and implementing programs and agendas such as 40 days of purpose.
2 Prepare and Serve Communion.
3 Visitation/Care. We visit the sick and elderly as a group or individually to pray for them or attend to their needs. We help arrange for flowers or other care / ministry for those in need.
4 Oversight of the Worship Committee. Review all recommendations for action by this committee and approve/deny these recommendations for consideration by the church board.
5 Oversee Mission Statement and its Implementation. We are responsible for keeping the mission statement under consideration in the church’s deliberations on how to do life as a church.
6 Administer Crisis Fund. The board determines when, to whom, and how the funds get distributed. The also recommend a budget for the fund.
7 Recommend Individuals to the Congregation for Membership. We meet with potential new church members to consider their application for membership and hear their testimony. We recommend individuals for membership to the congregation.
8 Enforce Church Discipline. We are guided by the words of Jesus in regards to how to carry out this ministry. Discipline will be carried out in a spirit of love.
9 Manage Deacon Board Budget.
10 Report to the Congregation Annually.
11 Assist Pastor and Church Chairman with Worship Service as they deem necessary. We will assist the church chairman in filling the pulpit in the pastor’s absence or during the pastor’s vacation.
12 Coordinate and Oversee Small Groups such as Home Bible Studies.
13 Welcoming and Greeting Ministries. We oversee the development and coordination of this ministry, which targets new people in our church.
14 Oversee Health Ministry Committee. This would include oversight of the parish nursing program.
15 Pray for people. Each Deacon Board member should participate in a deliberate, active prayer life. We encourage, facilitate, and lead ministries of prayer within our church.
